Local knowledge stays local

Sokiamo indexes the folders you choose on your Mac. Markdown files, folder paths, search queries, local index content, and plugin data are not sent to the licensing service.

Purchases and licensing

Square hosts checkout and processes payment, billing, fraud-prevention, and receipt information under Square’s privacy terms. Sokiamo does not receive or store full card details.

For Pro activation, the licensing service receives a random installation identifier, a generic device label, opaque license and installation credentials, and Square customer, subscription, invoice, and payment-status identifiers. License keys, installation identifiers, and device secrets are stored as keyed hashes.

Hosting and offline access

Cloudflare hosts the licensing service and storefront and can process normal network metadata such as IP addresses and request logs for security and operations. Checkout throttling stores only a keyed, hour-scoped network-address hash and removes old buckets after 48 hours. The app stores a device-bound signed entitlement in macOS Keychain. It has no offline expiry.

Plugins

The Plugin Engine is optional and off by default. A plugin you install can process or transmit data according to its own code and configuration. Review its capabilities and source before approving it.

Retention and requests

Local app data remains on your Mac until you remove it. Licensing and billing records are retained as needed to provide Pro, prevent abuse, resolve billing issues, and meet accounting or legal obligations. For a privacy request, use the seller contact details on your Square receipt.
